Installations:
Hungry Ghost Ritual Feast - Interactive ritual, sculpture, food, poetry, and social practice. This interactive experience honors grief, ancestors and Spirit by tenderly creating space for participants to share their grief stories, contribute to a community mandala, and practice interconnectedness. You are invited to engage in this contemporary rendition of a 2,000 year old cultural tradition rooted in Buddhist, Taoist, and folk practices, observed by thousands of Asian communities around the globe.
Love Letter to the Land: Sculpture, found objects, paper mache, and film. This installation shares the erased histories of Japanese agricultural communities displaced during WWII. SE Portland was once home to a community of Japanese agriculturalists numbering over 6,000. During WWII, the Federal government passed the Alien Enemies Act, which established the legal precedent to forcibly intern and incarcerate over 120,000 citizens of Japanese descent. The SE Portland Japanese agriculture community was decimated.
Our Little Free Diverse Library (小小彩色圖書館): Books, space to rest and share. This project offers books by BIPOC authors celebrating diversity. The Library features books for readers of all ages and is a welcoming space for all family members.
